When using Configuration Manager, each device has a status icon.
The method below shows you how to generate an updated certificate for Bosch IP Camera's and VRM Servers
Here we are talking about Certificates, the Icon is colored Yellow with an exclamation mark.
Using the mouse over Tooltip, the device is saying exactly what is wrong with the certificate connection.
VRM on a DIVAR IP 5000:
Right click on the device to Show Certificates, if you wish to view them.
We can see that there are multiple things wrong.
The Cert is not Trusted
Cert Name mismatch.
First is inconsistent date:
All IP devices and PC’s must be synchronized on Date time page (group General)
Second is invalid certificate
First quick look on certificate requirement level, navigate to Preferences -> Configuration Manager -> Access -> Security:
The certificate must just be valid - self signed certificate matching host name/IP address will be sufficient.
We need to generate a new certificate on Certificate page.
Clicking "Generate certificate" button:
should open a certificate creation dialog - most important options are matching common name and matching validity time.
After the certificate is created correct usage must be set as shown below:
IP Camera Certificate
To apply changes VRM must be restarted.
If certificate requirement is higher, then a validatable chain of certification must be used (This would be setup by a System Integrator or IT Administrator):
Trusted - the signing entity CA (e.g. VeriSign) must be trusted on target PC
Issued by this CA - There is a Micro CA setup on this PC.
This article describes how to factory default a DIVAR IP 5000 Unit
The DIVAR IP 5000 does not come with a internal DOM for recovery, but with SSD media inside with relevant recover partition used during new recovery process.
The Reset Button is used for two options of Recovering the unit - see installation Manual page 25 - chapter 8.2. The button is located on the lower left hand side of the appliances rear connection panel. This button is utilized in both reset procedures. The following order need to be kept and the manual corrected:
Defaulting Video Recording Manager (VRM)
To default an appliances previously configured VRM, with the appliance powered on and functioning.
Press and hold the reset button for 10 seconds
Then the VRM database will be set to factory default; No recordings will be removed from the unit; And IP addressing will remain, as well as any modifications to the operating system (time settings etc.)
Factory Defaulting the Appliance
Power the appliance completely off.
Apply power, and only after LED activity is seen on the front of the appliance, press and hold the reset button.
After a few seconds an audible “beep” should be heard. This is a signal that the internal watch dog has acknowledged the reset request. Release the reset button
When the reimage process is finished the appliance will reboot. After reboot users can use the IPHelper.exe to connect to the appliance’s Configuration Wizard or use the Configuration Manager to monitor when the DIVAR IP 5000 comes back online.
