Question   What should you know about SNMP and Bosch cameras SNMP support?   Answer   This article explains briefly the basics of SNMP. Declares the basic terms of the protocol. It also explains what part of the protocol is supported by Bosch cameras. Basics of SNMP and terms. Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) is a common protocol to monitor the health  status of a system. Such a monitoring system typically has a central management server that  collect all the data from the system’s compatible components and devices.  SNMP provides two methods to gain the system health status: –The network management server can poll the health status of a device via SNMP requests. –Devices can actively notify the network management server about their system health status in case of error or alarm conditions through sending SNMP traps to the SNMP server. Such traps must be configured inside the device. Details how to configure Bosch camera to send SNMP traps - How to activate the SNMP and configure sending SNMP traps from Bosch cameras?   SNMP also allows configuration of some variables inside devices and components. The information, which messages a device supports and which traps it can send, is derived from the Management Information Base, the so-called MIB file, a file that is delivered with a product for easy integration into a network monitoring system. There are three different version of the SNMP protocol: –SNMP version 1 SNMP version 1 (SNMPv1) is the initial implementation of the SNMP protocol. It is widely used and has become the de facto standard protocol for network management and monitoring. But SNMPv1 has become under threat due to its lack of security features. It only uses ‘community strings’ as a kind of passwords, which are transmitted in clear text. Thus, SNMPv1 shall only be used when it can be assured that the network is physically protected against unauthorized access. –SNMP version 2 SNMP version 2 (SNMPv2) included improvements in security and confidentiality, amongst others, and introduced a bulk request to retrieve large amounts of data in a single request. However, its security approach was considered way too complex, hindering its acceptance. Thus, it was soon pushed out by version SNMPv2c, which equals SNMPv2 but without its controversial security model, reverting to the community-based method from SNMPv1instead, similarly lacking security. –SNMP version 3 SNMP version 3 (SNMPv3) mainly adds security and remote configuration enhancements. These include improvements on confidentiality by encryption of packets, message integrity and authentication. It also addresses large-scale deployment of SNMP.   Bosch cameras SNMP To check what SNMP version does a particular camera support, check the data sheet of the device. (Find it under your device in the product catalogue - https://www.boschsecurity.com/xc/en/product-catalog/) since FW 6.40 onwards Bosch devices support SNMP v1 legacy and SNMP v3

Question   What to do when MIC IP camera is unable to perform the Object Classification in IVA detection?   Answer   Based on examples of target objects and non-target objects, the Camera Trainer program uses machine learning to allow the user to   define objects of interest and generate detectors for them. Using Configuration Manager, you can configure the Camera Trainer program using both live video as well as recordings available through your MIC IP cameras. The camera also includes the latest release of Intelligent Video Analytics application for use on prepositions. Designed for mission-critical applications, the video analytics can reliably detect, track, and analyze moving objects while suppressing unwanted alarms from spurious sources in the image, even in harsh weather conditions. Advanced tasks like multiple line crossing, loitering, idle / removed object detection, crowd density estimation, occupancy and people counting are available for live alarming and forensic search. Object filters based on size, speed, direction, aspect ratio, and color can be defined. In order to   perform Object Classification correctly, please make sure that you have correctly: set the correct Orientation     Save all the pre-positions again if the orientation stetting is changed calibrated the camera A simplified calibration mode reduces installation time significantly because you only need to enter the installation height once for each camera, independent of pre-positions. After the camera is calibrated, the analytics engine can automatically classify objects as upright person, car, bike, or truck.) enabled 3D tracking set it up the tasks and followed the VCA manual.   Please see an  overview of object classification in the  following article: How to set up object classification with video analytics

In Configuration Client, select Devices page. Device password and CHAP password. There are two possible configuration set ups - to configure password for both device and iSCSI connection or to leave both without password. Choose and configure one of them (3.1 or 3..2).    3.1.  Set device user password and CHAP password 3.2.  No CHAP password for ANR Note: Mixing the parameters between the two options 3.1 and 3.2 will lead to issues in direct replay from SD card.

Never lose track of an object of interest! Intelligent Tracking automatically zooms in to and follows a selected Intelligent Video Analytics object as far as possible with the camera. For AUTODOME / MIC IP 7000, this means automatically steering the camera to zoom in to the object and follow it. For a FLEXIDOME IP panoramic 7000, Intelligent Tracking is available in the Virtual PTZ video and steers the dewarped cut-out. For DINION / FLEXIDOME IP 7000 / 8000 cameras, Intelligent Tracking can steer a region of interest (ROI) stream. This article describes how to set Intelligent Tracking up with FW 6.30 and lists the differences based on the camera types.

Question Which CPP corresponds to certain cameras and encoders? Answer The capability of a Bosch IP camera or encoder is driven by two forces: One is the hardware capability, defined by the Common Product Platform (CPP) itself and the combined components of the product. The other is the firmware that drives this hardware. The firmware is developed on a common code basis and derived from there for the active platforms, making the feature sets of various platforms fairly similar within a certain firmware version. This article gives an overview of CPPs that correspond to certain types of cameras and encoders. Here you can search by the CTN of the camera and find out the CPP of it. Thus, you will know which firmware you should use for upgrading your device.
