Overview
There are two inputs that can be used with 12 or 24 V polarity reversal outputs from a conventional panel that conform to NFPA 72, Class B.
If the D7038 detects a trouble condition on either set of outputs, the appropriate EOL device opens the reversal loop.
The D7038 is a trouble relay that can be wired in series with the Auxiliary Output to provide power to the appliance. The trouble relay activates to indicate a fault condition on the D7038.
The D7038 can be placed anywhere on a FACP’s NAC circuit.
Issue
Can the D7038/DS9484 be configured to work as both a resettable power supply and as a NAC output for Horns and Strobes?
Solution
To use the D7038 / DS9484 as both a Power Supply and a NAC it needs to be configured as a Variable NAC.
1.) Set Dipswitch 1 to Off/Open position. This causes NAC1 and NAC2 to follow Input 1 and NAC3 and NAC4 to follow Input 2.
Note: For Dipswitch changes to take affect power needs to be cycled on the D7038.
To use one set of NAC's as a Power Supply connect a steady 12Vdc or 24Vdc power to either NAC Input 1 Terminals 14 and 15 to use NAC1 and NAC2 as a 24Vdc output power or NAC Input 2 Terminals 10 and 11 to use NAC3 and NAC4 as a 24Vdc output power.
Note: For a resettable power supply use a resettable Input and the output will follow the reset.
To use one set of NAC's as a NAC output connect a 12 or 24 V polarity reversal outputs from a conventional panel to either NAC Input 1 Terminals 14 and 15 to use NAC1 and NAC2 as a 24Vdc NAC output or NAC Input 2 Terminals 10 and 11 to use NAC3 and NAC4 as a 24Vdc NAC output.
Note: A pulsing input will provide a pulsing output. Most Horn Strobes require a Steady output.
