What is a System Fault 04 on a DS7400Xi Control Panel?
Solution
A System Fault 04 is defined as a Ground Fault condition. Use the following steps to troubleshoot the condition. These steps require a volt meter.
- Connect the volt meter's negative lead to the earth ground terminal, and then connect the volt meter's positive lead to the Aux power negative terminal.
Under normal conditions, the volt meter should read -6.65VDC +/- 0.25VDC, or half the voltage between Aux + and Aux -. A reading higher or lower indicates a ground fault condition.
Disconnect field wiring from each terminal while watching the meter. When the voltage returns to -6.65 VDC, that is the wire causing the ground fault condition.
