    How to Troubleshoot the D928

    Panel Programming:

Set the Phone Supervision Time to 10 Seconds for testing

    Enable Two Phoneline (Yes)

Setup Routing Route Group 1 > Primary (Phone 1) > Backup (Phone 2)

Program the Central Station Phone Number in Phone 1 and Backup Phone number in Phone 2

Note: When needing to dial a special character like a 9 to get an outside line program your phone number starting with C9C then the central station phone number. Example to call the Tech-Support Receiver C9C15852230522.

Wiring: The Top Phone Jack of the D928 is the Primary Phone Line, the Middle Phone Jack is the Secondary Line, and the Bottom Phone Jack is the Communication Phone Line to the panel Phone Jack.

    Testing:

Phone Line 1 Fail -Measure the phone line voltage. The panel is looking for 6VDC. If the panel has the line seized you may see a lower voltage, the panel cannot monitor the line voltage when it is attempting to dial out. The line volt must remain above 6VDC when the house side in in an Off Hook Condition.

Swap Line 1 and Line 2 > If the trouble stays on Phone Line 1, the Phone Line cord itself is ok. Plug line directly into the panel. Does the Line Fail clear? If yes, replace the D928, if it does not clear the Phone Line 1 Fail. Verify the Loop Start/Ground Start Switch is locked under Loop Start. If it is locked then the panel needs to be replaced.

Phone Line 2 Fail -Measure the phone line voltage. The panel is looking for 6VDC. If the panel has the line seized you may see a lower voltage, the panel cannot monitor the line voltage when it is attempting to dial out. The line volt must remain above 6VDC when the house side in in an Off Hook Condition.

Swap Line 1 and Line 2 > If the trouble stays on Phone Line 2, the Phone Line cord itself is ok. Verify the Loop Start/Ground Start Switch is locked under Loop Start. If it is locked then the D928 needs to be replaced.
