How to Troubleshoot "Service Printer" Message on a SDI Keypad

Overview: If "Service Printer" is being displayed at they keypad(s), it me be due to a ground fault being caused by the printer.

When utilizing the 9131A, the keypad(s) display  "Service Printer".  After verifying that all programming and switch settings are correct, the printer is printing unreadable text and the keypads still display "Service Printer".  This may caused by a ground fault.

    • Check panel compatibility for use with the 9131A
    • Check wiring from the panel to the 9131A
    • IEEE-1284 Parallel cable with standard Centronics connector is being used
    • Check all necessary programming and switch settings

After verifying that the steps have been taken and all settings are correct for both hardware and in programming, check for a ground fault being caused by the printer.

If  a ground fault is present when the printer is connected to the 9131A and plugged into the "wall outlet",  the ground fault could be being caused by the "grounding prong" on the printer cable.  A "3 prong" to "2 prong" adaptor placed on the end of the printer cable that connects to the "wall outlet" will address this issue.
