Product(s) affected: DCN-NG software integration
Version(s): all versions
Problem description:
The request was to integrate an AMX NX-2200 with the CCU2. The appropriate licenses were installed, but the devices could not communicate through the serial connection.
Solution:
In the past when the DCN-NG system used a CCU, systems could be integrated through a serial connection. The CCU had two serial ports to this end. One serial port was used for 3rd party integration through Open Interface, the other was used to drive analogue cameras and/or Allegiant analogue video switches.
When the CCU2 was introduced, the ability to integrate with OI was changed from a serial protocol to a protocol which runs on Ethernet. These two protocols are quite different as the required encapsulation of both is quite different.
With this change, the first serial connector is no longer present on the CCU2, only the connection to drive analogue cameras and/or Allegiant analogue video switches is still available.
Therefore, if an older integration with the CCU2 is required, this is often not directly possible without changing it to utilise the Ethernet connection.
