How to work with the D279A Independent Zone Controller.

 The following procedures are included in this article:

• How to default the passcode.
• How to change the passcode.
• If the D279A will not recover the default passcode or allow passcode changes.
• If still unable to default the passcode after completing the previous steps.
• How to program the point index for the D279A Independent Zone Controller.

How to default the D279A passcode back to 1234.

1. Ensure the D279A is disarmed and in the normal condition. 
   1. NOTE:  AN ALARM WILL BE GENERATED AT THE CONTROL PANEL IF THE D279A IS ARMED DURING THIS PROCEDURE.
2. Connect jumper J3 across the top two pins.
3. Press BLANK key once 
4. Enter the mastercode 0279 twice. (Blank key is also 0 key)
5. The buzzer sounds a beep for 3 sec. to indicate default passcode success.
6. Arm and disarm the zone control to test the default passcode 1234.
7. Remove the jumper from the J3 top two pins.

How to change the D279A passcode. 

1. Jumper J3 across the top 2 pins
2. Press BLANK key once 
3. Enter the old passcode once
4. Enter new code and press enter.
5. Enter new code again and hit enter.  Note: Do not use same digits in a row or have first and last digit same.
6. Arm and disarm the zone control to test the new passcode.
7. Remove the jumper from the J3 top two pins.

If the D279A will not recover the default passcode or allow passcode changes.

1. Verify the D279A is disarmed.
2. Verify the D279A zones are normal.
3. Verify the J3 jumper is on the top two pins for passcode change enable.
4. Attempt the passcode change or default procedure again.

If still unable to default the passcode after completing the previous steps.

1. Power down the D279.
2. Short together the 2 pins on J-4 for 60 seconds.
3. Remove short and power up the D279 and the passcode is defaulted to 1,2,3,4.
4. Arm and disarm the zone control to test the default passcode 1234
5. Remove the jumper from the J3 top two pins.

How to program the point index for the D279A Independent Zone Controller.

• O/C Non-Priority: The D279 provides point arming and disarming independent of the area arm state.  When programmed as O/C Non-Priority, the armed state of the D279 point does not affect the arming state of the assigned area.
  • Point Type=7/Point Response= 1.
  • Silence Local bells from the command center. (For bell control at the D279, use Point Type 8 (D279 O/C Priority).
  • Cut the W1 jumper on the D279 to send point opening and point closing When the W1 jumper is not cut, open or close reports do NOT send regardless of control panel programming.
• D279 (O/C Priority): The D279 provides point arming and disarming independent of the area arm state.  When programmed as O/C Priority, the D279 point must be armed before an area can be armed.
  • Point Type=8/Point Response= 2.
  • Cut the W1 jumper on the D279 to send area opening and closing reports and to provide bell control.
  • When the W1 jumper is not cut, open or close reports do NOT send and a command center is required to silence bells regardless of control panel programming.
