Bosch control panels communicate with a network receiver using either Onboard IP, a cellular card attached to the panel, a B426, B450 or DX4020 (SDI only) network communicator, depending on the panel type. When troubleshooting, the physical address of the network communicator and which path (1-4) was used for communication, are used to isolate the problem. Different methods are used to display the physical address and path depending on the type of panel experiencing the problem. This article explains how to interpret the keypad display on different panel types.
Network interface when used on the SDI bus:
Legacy SDI panels addressed the B426 or DX4020 as SDI 88 or SDI 92 (GV3). The SDI xx report indicates both the network communicator address and the path number.
When addressed as SDI 88 the path number is indicated by incrementing SDI 88 as 88-91.
Network communicator addressed as SDI 88:
SDI 88 = path 1
SDI 89 = path 2
SDI 90 = path 3
SDI 91 = path 4
When addressed as SDI 92 the path number is indicated by incrementing SDI 92 as 92-95.
Network communicator addressed as SDI 92:
SDI 92 = path 1
SDI 93 = path 2
SDI 94 = path 3
SDI 95 = path 4
Device Message Failing to Poll on: SDI 88 Comm Trouble / Fail SDI 88 Address 88, Path 1 SDI 88 Comm Trouble / Fail SDI 89 Address 88, Path 2 SDI 88 Comm Trouble / Fail SDI 90 Address 88, Path 3 SDI 88 Comm Trouble / Fail SDI 91 Address 88, Path 4
SDI 92 Comm Trouble / Fail SDI 92 Address 92, Path 1 SDI 92 Comm Trouble / Fail SDI 93 Address 92, Path 2 SDI 92 Comm Trouble / Fail SDI 94 Address 92, Path 3 SDI 92 Comm Trouble / Fail SDI 95 Address 92, Path 4
Network interface when used on the SDI2 bus:
The B426 or B450 is addressed as 1 or 2 when connected to the SDI 2 bus (refer to the device IOG for address configuration). The first digit indicates the path number, and the second digit indicates the B426 or B450 address.
Device-Addr Message Failing to Poll on: SDI 2-Addr1 Comm Trouble / Fail SDI 11 Path 1, Address 1 SDI 2-Addr1 Comm Trouble / Fail SDI 21 Path 2, Address 1 SDI 2-Addr1 Comm Trouble / Fail SDI 31 Path 3, Address 1 SDI 2-Addr1 Comm Trouble / Fail SDI 41 Path 4, Address 1
SDI 2-Addr2 Comm Trouble / Fail SDI 12 Path 1, Address 2 SDI 2-Addr2 Comm Trouble / Fail SDI 22 Path 2, Address 2 SDI 2-Addr2 Comm Trouble / Fail SDI 32 Path 3, Address 2 SDI 2-Addr2 Comm Trouble / Fail SDI 42 Path 4, Address 2
New G Series (B8512G/B9512G) and B Series panels using Onboard Ethernet or Cellular:
Panel onboard IP displays address 0, plug-in Cellular displays address 8. The first digit indicates the path # and the second digit indicates the communicator address.
When using the B426 or B450 on the SDI 2 bus the display will be the same as previously described.
Device Message Failing to Poll on: Onboard Ethernet Comm Trouble SDI 10 Path 1, Address 0 Onboard Ethernet Comm Trouble SDI 20 Path 2, Address 0 Onboard Ethernet Comm Trouble SDI 30 Path 3, Address 0 Onboard Ethernet Comm Trouble SDI 40 Path 4, Address 0
Onboard Cellular Comm Trouble SDI 18 Path 1, Address 8 Onboard Cellular Comm Trouble SDI 28 Path 2, Address 8 Onboard Cellular Comm Trouble SDI 38 Path 3, Address 8 Onboard Cellular Comm Trouble SDI 48 Path 4, Address 8
Comm Trouble: Displays when the panel is not receiving an acknowledgement from the receiver prior to making retry attempts.
Comm Fail: Displays when the panel has not received an acknowledgement from the receiver prior to exhausting all of the programmed retry attempts.
How to calculate the network supervision interval:
Supervision time= Poll Rate + Ack Wait + [(Ack Wait) x (Retry Count)] Example: Poll =210 Ack=15 Retry Count=5 Supervision time = 210 + 15 + (5 x 15) = 300 seconds or 225 + 75 = 300seconds
