Issue AEC Panel Does Not Boot Properly This service note applies to the following symptoms: After applying power to the system, LED 8 on the Communications Board lights up. After about 30 seconds, LED 3 lights up shortly and the CPU Board beeps. Then LEDs 1, 3, 5, and 7 light up and the system beeps for about 45 seconds. The beep stops, but the 4 LEDs continue to stay lit. Solution Cause: This occurs on the system when the SIM Card has not been properly installed in the Communication Board. It should be installed in the plastic locking bracket near the RS-485 terminal. Solution: Remove power from the system. AEC1.0 – Elevator Control Install AEC – 8I8O – EXT board Follow directions in the AEC Installation Manual to attach and properly address the AEC-8I8O-EXT board. Program the AEC controller through the Access Easy web interface Connect and log into the configuration web page for your panel.   Output Setup This section will be used to name the relay outputs on the AEC-8I8O-EXT. Select Panel Admin. Select Output Setup under the Panel Admin heading. Click on the first output you will be using on your output board. Outputs 1 to 8 will be on the output board addressed as number one by the on-board jumpers. Outputs 9 16 on output board number 2, etc. When the Output Point Setup window opens, delete the default description and enter in a new description for that output. We recommend using the name or number of the floor that will be controlled by that output for ease of programming. Click on the save icon. Then click on the clipboard icon. Continue this procedure for all outputs that you will be using. Card Readers This section will allow you to select a reader as an elevator reader and link it to the appropriate outputs. Select Card readers under Card Access Admin. Click on the reader that will be used for elevator control. In the Reader Function section, select Elevator Reader and click on the green arrow. Under Scheduling Options, select the appropriate scheduling scheme for this reader and then click the green arrow. Associating a schedule with a reader will make all of the floors associated with the reader public (not requiring card access) during the scheduled time. If you want to make individual floors public during certain times, this can be done by going back to the Output Setup and adjusting the individual output’s Output Schedule. In the Floor Output Settings page, enter the appropriate amount of time in the Floor Relay Enable Timer. This setting will determine how long the relay with stay active after a card read. To associate the floor number with the appropriate relay, select your floor from the Floor drop down box, select your output in the Output dropdown box, and click on the “+” button. This will populate the window above. Repeat this step for each floor and output that will be controlled by this reader. Access Groups In this section, you will give an access level permission to access assigned floors. Select Access Groups under the Card Database section. Click on the access group that you would like to modify for elevator control. First, provide a description for this access group in the text field at the top. In the Access Group window, put a check in the box next to the elevator reader. Next, select the appropriate schedule for when you would like personnel in that access group to be able to access that elevator reader. After you select your schedule, click on "Floor List" on the right. When your Floor List window opens, put a check mark by all of the floors that this access group will be able to access. Card Assignment This section will allow you to assign an elevator access group to a card holder. Select Card Assignment under the Card Database section. Click on the user number you would like to modify for elevator control. In either Access Group A or Access Group B, assign the Card Holder an access group that includes access to the desired floors. Issue The Security Escort Software console has a yellow trouble banner that reads "Output Sounders On".  There are no sounders on. What do I do to correct this? Solution To clear the trouble message - Go to Utilities - Output Verification - this will cause the sytem to recheck the outputs and clear any troubles. Issue In Security Escort, how do I set what map a receiver or area should be placed on? Solution In the Security Escort software, go to the File menu and choose Transponder Database. Click on the radio button "" for Show Points or Show Areas, whichever you would like to configure. Use the Next and Previous buttons at the bottom to scroll to the appropriate area or receiver. Click Edit Data In the lower left corner, in the box labeled Map, enter the map number that should be associated with that area or receiver. Overview The Security Escort system uses radio frequency (RF) for alarm transmissions. This is a significant positive because it prevents normal construction from blocking the signal and helps to eliminate dead spots where the alarm could not be heard. The fact that RF energy passes through normal construction also prevents Security Escort from locating an alarm with 100% certainty to a specific side of a wall. Alarms originating at or near building walls will typically be indicated within 25 ft. (7.5 m) of the actual location, however there may be times when the computed location may appear to be on the other side of the wall. Security Escort system was designed to provide a computed alarm location typically within 25 ft. (7.5 m) of the actual location when indoors and a computed alarm location typically within 50 ft. (15 m) of the actual location outdoors. Any deviation from the following installation guidelines will degrade the computed location accuracy. To estimate the number of indoor Receivers, assume the receivers will be placed on a grid with a maximum spacing of 80 ft. (25 m) between Receivers for standard construction. In multi-floor applications the Receivers on each floor must be placed directly above the Receivers on the floor below (this is required for proper floor-to-floor location). For example, to determine the number of Receivers required to protect a building of standard construction of 60 m (200 ft.) by 30 m (100 ft.) and four floors: To determine the number of Receivers in each direction, divide each dimension of the building by 25 m (80ft.) and drop the remainder and add 1.(60 m/25 m = 2.4 becomes 2 add 1 = 3 and 30 m/25 m =1.2 becomes 1 add 1 = 2) or (200 ft./80 ft. = 2.5 becomes 2 add 1 = 3 and 100 ft./80 ft. =1.25 becomes 1 add 1 = 2) To determine the number of Receivers required per floor, multiply the number of Receivers in one direction by the number of Receivers in the other direction. (3 x 2 = 6) 6 Receivers per floor. To determine the total number of Receivers, multiply the number of Receivers per floor by the number of floors. (6 x 4 = 24) 24 Receivers for the building. Each floor would require 6 Receivers, resulting in a total of 24 Receivers to protect this building. To estimate the number of Receivers, assume a maximum Receiver spacing of 90 m (300 ft.) between Receivers, in both directions, for Receivers that are not within 30 m (100 ft.) of a building with inside coverage. Receivers within 30 m (100 ft.) of a building should be spaced at the spacing of Receivers in the building (spacing the outside Receivers at a somewhat larger spacing is acceptable in most cases). An outside area directly between two buildings with inside protection will need no additional Receivers if the buildings are 90 m (300 ft.) or less apart. If the buildings are more than 90 m (300 ft.) apart the outside Receivers should be placed evenly spaced between the buildings. Make sure the standard 90 m (300 ft.) spacing is not exceeded. For spacing outside adjacent to a covered building, start the 90 m (300 ft.) spacing at the building wall. Issue How does the Escort software place a triggered transmitter on the map so safety personnel can send help to the correct area?   Solution Picture a football field with a receiver in each corner. If you trip the transmitter from anywhere on the field, it will place you with in 25 feet of where you are. Now if you trip the transmitter from the parking lot it will pull you back toward the field because all the receivers are in each corner of the field. In order to protect the parking lot there needs to at least 1 receiver on the parking lot far side. 2 receivers would give better placement.  A true to life application you need a Receiver every 300 feet outside. As long as you are some where within the covered area the receiver will place you within 25 feet of your location. ... View more
