Uses for the  D298M over a D298S or D278S popited base? D278S 12 volt popit base. D298S 24 volt popit base. The D298M is a 24 volt popit base that provides connections for up to 19 supervised circuits two-wire slave detectors (D287 2-Wire Base with D285 Smoke Head or D285TH Smoke Head with 135 degree heat sensor) reporting to the master address. The D298M is used over the D298S to conserve popit addresses on a large system.

The D305 does not have the ability to trip the control panel or smoke head into alarm. The D305 Test Plate only toggles the alarm LED and relays of the D332A, FAD-325-R and FAD-325-V2F-R. The only way to get the control panel to display an alarm or supervisory  from the Analog Hochiki DUCT Detectors is by using UL Listed canned smoke (refer to the testing procedure below). Currently the only work-around is to connect a single point module (D334A, D339A, FLM-325-IM, FLM-325-I4, FLM-325-I4-A or FLM-325-I4-AI) to one of the alarm relays of the D332A, FAD-325-R or FAD-325-V2F-R. *Note: If the customer installed the D331A, FAD-325, or FAD-325- V2F we have no way of using the D305 to trip the panel into alarm.  Option 2 - Replace the DUCT Housing (D331A, D332A, FAD-325, FAD-325-R, FAD-325- V2, or FAD-325- V2-R) and Test Plates (D305) with D341P Conventional DUCT Housing with Head, D344-RT Remote Test Plate, and D339A, D334A, FLM-325-IM, FLM-325-I4, FLM-325-I4-A or FLM-325-I4-AI Analog Single Point Monitor Module. The downside is that the customer will lose the ability to read the sensitivity of the DUCT through the control panel web-browser. Testing  Procedure (D331A, D332A, FAD-325, FAD-325-R, FAD-325- V2, or FAD-325- V2-R) Install the detector housing. The green Pilot LED on the housing’s front lights. Remove the head. The Pilot LED goes out to indicate head supervision. Replace the head and reset the FACP. Test the detector’s operation. Light a piece of clothesline and place it approximately 3 in. (7.6 cm) from the head. Blow across the lighted area toward the detector head. The Alarm LED lights within 1 min and the two alarm relays energize shorting Terminal 8 to 9 and Terminal 11 to 12. Reset the housing. The detector momentarily resets and returns to the alarm condition. Perform this operation several times. After 5 min, the smoke in the detector head clears and the detector remains reset. Replace the cover.
