    What to be considered when changing the IP Address of the VSG?

    When the VSG IP address needs to be changed, the old recordings will not be available.

     

    DO NOT change the IP Address of the VSG without following the steps below, also available in the BVMS migration process from this article (chapter 8.5 Migration of VSG):

    1. Stop the VSG services (for all instances) on the existing server.
    2. Copy the whole VSG folder located in C:\ProgramData\Bosch\ from the existing server to the new server.
    3. Launch BVMS Configuration Client, go to edit dialogue of VSG and change the IP address to the IP address of the new server.
    4. Activate the BVMS changes.
    5. Start VSG and VRM services on the new server.

    Previous recordings are not available, and VSG will continue recording.

     

    info.png Be sure that the VSG version is supported by the BVMS version you are using. This information can be found in the BVMS Release Letter > chapter Versions.

    • For example, VSG version 2.0.10 is supported by BVMS v12.2, according to the Release Letter (page 10)

     

    ⚠️ By changing the VSG IP Address in other ways, you might encounter several issues after changing the VSG IP Address, such as:

    • recording issues
    • full storage
    • time sync issues
    • storage timeouts
    • network issues in general
    • bandwidth issues
    • when the devices capabilities are refreshed in Configuration Client, the BVMS could crash with “An unknown error occurred” message
