Can the installer code be returned to default in the FPD-7024, D7024, DS9400, DS9400I, DS9400M fire panels?
Will the panel program be returned to default if steps are followed to default the installer code?
Connect the FPD-7024 to RPS with the DX4010V2
Connect the DX4010V2 to the FPD-7024 option bus (main board lower right corner) observing proper wiring connections; R-B-G-Y.
Set DX4010V2 switches 1-6 all on for Address 250.
Press (0) on the faceplate keypad to enter Program Mode.
Enter your Program PIN (default = 9876). The top line of the display should read Program Modes.
Press (3) Program System.
Press (4) Option Bus.
Press (1) Update Bus.
Note: The keypad will display “Updating . . . TOT BUS DEVS: XX”.
XX = the total number of devices on the option bus. If an incorrect total of devices appears, (i.e. 00), inspect wiring and addressing of option bus devices and repeat steps 5-7. Each option bus device must have a unique address.
Press (7) Remote Program.
Press (1) Enable.
Press (* / BACK) key two times to return to Program Modes.
Press (6) Program Accounts.
Press (4) Ring Count. Enter 02 followed by (# / ENTER).
Press (7) ALT. COMM.
Press (1) Serial.
Press (* / BACK) key 3 times to exit programming.
The red LED inside the DX4010V2 should be flashing.
Open the FPD-7024 account In RPS, select Connect via Enhanced Direct.
Note: If the DX4010V2 LED is not flashing, open the DX4020V2 cover and ensure the LED Jumper P2 is in place
The FLM-325-2i4 is a Single address Dual Input Analog Addressable Module with two inputs used to monitor Normally Open (NO) or Normally Closed (NC) circuits. If the module is addressed as 010 the First input will display as 010.1 on the panel keypad display, the Second input will display as 010.2 on the panel keypad display.
First thing I do is create a chart – to make it more visual - See example below:

Then assign the relay Output Zone according to the chart above.
**Note: I start at Output Zone 30 because Output Zones 1 -21 are Pre-programmed/Assigned to points at default. (You need to ask the installer if they have programmed any output zones before starting at 30 if this is an existing install they are adding to)
If programming is correct verify the relay is working thru TEST 6 Outputs Select what Relay Type (Local –Remote 1 or 2 – MUX) Select the relay # to test and turn it ON. Verify with a meter it changed state. After the Test Turn the Relay OFF.
If still not working verify the address of the D7053 or D7035 correct – If using D7035 also make sure it is learned in to the Option Bus, If D7053 make sure it is programmed an I/O Module on the MUX Loop.
Last if D7053 – Open the D7053 get to the Circuit board and check the Fuse with a meter. It should read shorted across the Fuse.

2.) Phone Communication to the Central Station (CS)
**Note: Line 2 is in the top right of the panel, Line 1 is the second line down.
Verify the phone lines are good by calling out on each with a Butt Sett. When dialing pay attention if a 9 or other special character is required to get an outside line.
Verify programming is correct – Account Number – Format – and Phone Number in for each phone line – the Phone number if viewing from the panel keypad must start with a 1 then a > Wait for Dial Tone followed by the CS Phone Number 18002890096 the complete string looks like this 1>18002890096.
Next in programming verify the dialing type is set to DTMF and the phone line monitor is enabled.
**Note: Phone Line Supervision Time - While the control panel is idle, the FACP monitors the primary and alternate telephone lines by monitoring the line for trouble (Line Trouble is Line Voltage drops below 5 Volts DC). The FACP monitors each line every 12 seconds. When a trouble still exists after three samples (36 seconds), the FACP sends a trouble report and activates the yellow trouble LED and trouble relay.
Use the TEST 2 Communication test to check to see with a butt sett if the panel is seizing the line getting dial tone and dialing the phone number. You should hear the ring and the receiver pick up and go thru it acknowledgment tones.
3.) Network/Cellular Communication to the Central Station (CS)
**Note: The EPROM version of the DX4020 must be 2.21 or higher to be compatible with the FPD-7024.
Verify programming is correct for the following: Account Number, Port Number, Format, IP Address

Firmware 1.03 and lower - IP Address Start with a 0 to tell the panel this is an IP address (enter the 12 digit IP Address of the Central Station) followed by the three digit ACK Wait time, then the three digit Heartbeat Interval, then the last digit is a 1 to Enable Anti-replay. Refer to chart above for keypad entries.
Firmware 1.06 and higher - IP Address Start with a 0 to tell the panel this is an IP address (enter the 12 digit IP Address of the Central Station) followed by the three digit ACK Wait time, then the three digit Heartbeat Interval, then 1 to Enable Anti-replay the last 2 digits set the ACK and Heartbeat Interval: 0 = Seconds, 1 = Minutes, and 2 = Hours. Refer to chart above for keypad entries.
Each Option Bus Device needs to have a unique option bus address. Conettix devices - DX4020, ITS-DX4020-G, B420, B426, B450 with 1.03 firmware and lower address as 250 only. Panels with firmware 1.06 and higher a second Conettix device can be added at address 134. You must update the Option Buss from the panel keypad for the option bus device to operate.
When updating the option bus - The keypad will display “Updating . . . TOT BUS DEVS: XX”. XX = the total number of devices on the Option bus. If 00 check the wiring and addressing of each device on the Option bus and update the option bus again.
**Note: The B450 will not learn in to the option bus if the card is not communicating with a tower on the cell network. Use Porthos (ping) to verify cell network connection.
**NOTE: If only using one IP path with no IP, cell or phone backup, program Report Steering to PHONE 1 ONLY for all reports.
When using a Network or cellular communication to the CS the account needs to be add to the Bosch receiver using the D6200 Software. If the account is not added the CS will not receive signals. When adding the FPD-7024 account to the Receiver leave Time Sync OFF (0).
Setting a Second Communications Path
Same steps as Phone/IP 1 and leave Report Steering at default Phone/IP 2 Backup for all reports.
** NOTE: Firmware 1.03 and lower DOES NOT support two IP paths to the same Receiver. The second path must be a different receiver.
4. ) Ground Fault
Ground Fault Displays as “SYS FLT 21” in the panel History Log. If the GF is present to panel will display Ground Fault and the GF LED will be on.
To Trouble-Shoot the GF using a Digital Multi Meter (DVM) measure the DC Voltage between Earth Ground and Common. It should be 5.95 VDC. Remove incoming wires until you locate which wire or wires are causing the GF. After narrowing it to a wire run, divide and conquer the loop until you find the source of the GF. If all wires are removed accept AC and the GF is still displayed with the GF Voltage not at or near 5.95 VDC, remove the panel from the enclosure and measure GF Voltage. If it is not at or near 5.95 VDC replace the panel.
5.) Reports Sent to the CS (Central Station)
In the back of the FPD-7024 Installation and Operation Guide – 10.3 Appendix C: Communicator Reporting Summary List all the reports the panel sends to the CS. Here is also where you will find a list of the Panel System Faults. The commons one we are asked about are System Fault 21, 22, and 23.
21 = Ground fault- wiring short; 22 = NAC 1 open wiring; 23 = NAC 2 open wiring.
At the CS these come in as Equipment Fail – Point 21, Equipment Fail – Point 22, and Equipment Fail – Point 23. The tech will be trouble shooting the points not the real problem. You need to view the panel history log to verify if it was a point trouble or a System Fault.
**Note: If the CS is receiving Opening and Closing Reports from the FPD-7024 turn off Reset and Silence reports in Report Steering.

7.) Item Locked
When in keypad programming you may see Item Locked – when attempting to make changes to Program Accounts. This means that when programming the panel with RPS (Remote Programming Software) they locked you out of all or part of keypad programming. To re-enable keypad programming you must connect with RPS and select one of the following option within RPS. 1. Allow all local programming: All programming items may be accessed from the local keypad. 2. Lock phone/account numbers only: All programming except phone numbers and account numbers may be accessed from the local keypad. 3. Lock all local programming (except Date/Time and all user PINs): Allows only the Date and Time to be set from a local keypad.
**Note: RPS Remote Passcode (Default is 0000) and Agency Code (000000) cannot be changes from keypad programming. They are only set in RPS programming.
8.) RPS Enhanced Direct Connect
Address the DX4010V2 or DX4010i with firmware 2.21 or higher as address 250 all dipswitches “On”. Wire the 4010 to the Option bus of the panel. Plug the 4010 into the laptop. In the panel programming you need to do the following:

Press (0) Enter your Program Pin – Default Pin is (9876)
Set the panel Ring Count and Enable Serial Communications
Press (6) Program Accounts
Press (4) Ring Count
Enter (02) follow by (# / ENTER)

Press (1) Serial
Press (* / BACK) key Twice – The display should read Program Modes on the top line
Update the Option Buss to enable the DX4010i or DX4010V2
Press (3) Program System
Press (4) Option Buss
Press (1) Update Buss
The keypad will display “Updating . . . TOT BUS DEVS: XX”. XX = the total number of devices on the Option bus. If (00) check the wiring and addressing of each device on the Option bus. Each Option device needs to have its own unique address. Then repeat steps above until all the devices are learned to the option buss of the panel.
Press (* / BACK) key Once – The display should read Program System on the top line
Next Enable Remote Programming
Press (7) Remote Program
Press (1) Enable
Press (* / BACK) key 3 Times
The Red LED of the DX4010i or DX4010V2 should be flashing
In RPS Select Connect Via Enhanced Direct
When programming is complete Remove the DX4010i/DX4010V2 from the Options Buss and update the Option Buss – see steps above.
9.)Requirements for Upgrading the D7024 to the FPD- 7024
The Transformer for the D7024 will not operate the FPD-7024 - Usually easier to replace the enclosure rather than drill out the rivets of the old D7024 Transformer.
D7038 is replaced by the FPP-RNAC-8A-4C if it needs to be on the Options Buss Note - The D7038 can be used as a Variable NAC Power Supply with any panel.
D7033 is replaced by FMR-7033
D7036 is replaced by FMR-7036
D7034 is replaced by FPC-7034
**Note: For those of you who are not aware, there is a five volt difference between the D7024 transformer (31.6-32 volts AC) and the FPD-7024 transformer (26.6-27 volts AC) the current remains the same. Also the FPD-7024 has a Yellow 230 VAC Connection.
The FLM-7024-ISO MUX bus isolator module is placed between devices on the MUX bus. A short on the bus causes activation of the isolators adjacent to either side of the short. This effectively separates all devices between the activated isolators from the rest of the bus. This prevents failure of the entire bus. When the short condition is removed, the isolators automatically restore the entire loop to normal operation.
