Overview
The Bosch Security Systems D221 Answering Machine Disconnect Module allows you to remotely disconnect an answering machine that shares a phone line with a Bosch Security Systems control panel. When the answering machine disconnects the phone line is available to the control/communicator for remote programming (RPS) functions. A Touch-tone® telephone at the RAM site is required to perform the disconnect procedure. The D221 can be installed with an existing modular telephone jack or be a replacement for an RJ-11 jack.
Issue
What activates the module to disconnect the answering machine?
Solution
From a touch tone phone call the phone line, let the answering machine answer the line. The # key or the 8 key will activate the module.
1) module white jumper cut = # key
2) module black jumper cut = 8 key
**Note: The RAM session is not affected when the D221 restores the phone line to the answering machine. Some answering machines record tones generated during the RAM session. If the D221 Module is used with an integrated telephone/ answering machine device, pressing the activation key ([#] or [8]) during normal use may activate the D221 and disconnect the device for 3 to 5 minutes.
Issue
D7112 Panel battery will not hold a charge.
Solution
A slow flashing (1 sec on, 1 sec off) yellow LED with the green CPU LED off indicates a power supply overload condition. The panel detects the battery as missing and the power supply cannot meet the power demand of the devices on the panel. The panel is shut down.
Issue
Will an Answering Machine cause the D168A not to answer when accessed locally?
Solution
Some answering machines load down the phone line and cause it to go below 7 VDC. The D168A needs at least 7 VDC to properly process the DTMF tones.
How to determine why Central Station doesn't receive supervisory events sent with BFSK format.
When sending signals using BFSK format, the central station does not receive Supervisory events.

How can I tell a B series panel from a non B seies panel?
Solution
There are few ways.
Look at the main eprom chip on the board, version 3.17 and under are a B series panel. It will also be labeled D9112B or D9112B1.
Press CMD59 at a keypad, versions 3.17 and under are B or B1 series panels.
Latch and unlatch the reset pin on the cpu. If it beeps for 8-10 seconds it is a B or B1 series panel.

FA210 REDUCED-SIZE UNIVERSAL TRANSMITTER Available in off-white (FA210). For use with any standard contact or sensor, this reduced-size universal transmitter comes with case tamper and supports an end-of-line resistor. Mounting bracket included for quick and easy installation.
FA210W REDUCED-SIZE “WIDE GAP” DOOR/WINDOW TRANSMITTER Available in off-white (FA210W). Same as the FA210 but includes two built-in magnetic reed switches, one on top, and one on the side for maximum flexibility. Includes magnet that supports a 5/8” gap. Can support a N/O or N/C external contact when using the reed switch.

Issue
What is the force arm or bypass max on the DS7100?
Solution
The bypass max is only limited by point programming, if the point is programmed in data digit 3 as bypassable then it may be bypassed no matter how many other zones may also be bypassed while arming.
Issue
Can zones 7 and 8 be used as normally open zones, and do they require any supervision?
Solution
Zones 7and 8 are not supervised on the D2112 and D2212 panels and therefore can only be used as normally closed zones, they will not work as normally open zones because no EOL is used. Voltages of 2.4 to 13.9VDC would be an open condition while voltages 0.0 to 1.4VDC would indicate a closed circuit on these points.
Issue
How do I tell if my wiring is good and all the devices are connected on the D6112 keypad bus?
Solution
Remove the data wires from terminals 11 and 13 on the control panel. Also remove the power going to those devices. Using a multimeter set to read resistance, place one lead on a data wire and the other lead on the other data wire.
The correct resistance reading should be 9K Ohms per device connected.
Number of device / Device Resistance / Wire / Max resistance
1 9 k ohms 15 k ohms 23 k ohms
2 18 k ohms 15 k ohms 32 k ohms
3 27 k ohms 15 k ohms 41 k ohms
4 36 k ohms 15 k ohms 50 k ohms

How is the phone line monitor turned on or off in programming?
Solution
DS7100 version 5.03 or higher.
The phone line monitor feature has been enhanced to provide output to allow enabling or disabling of the featrure through programming and to automatically reset after the phone line is restrored.
The feature is controlled in data digit 2 of program address 89.
To enable the phone line fault monitor without an audible output, program line 89 as 0200.
To enable the phone line fault monitor with a keypad warning beep when the system is disarmed and siren output when the system is armed, program line 89 as 0600.
To disable phone line fault monitor program line 89 as 0000.
