In order to add authorizations to an existing license, the current license key is required as well as the new authorization numbers.
How to find this key is detailed in another article:
How to find the license key loaded in a DCN-CCU2
Follow the next steps for adding the new authorizations:
Go to https://license.boschsecurity.com
Fill in the CCU's Serial Number and CHK:
Enter the current license key (this is found on the license key document received after activating the previous authorization numbers).
In the following windows the license information is shown and it's possible to add additional authorization numbers.
If multiple authorization numbers need to be added, choose "Next Authorization"
If all authorization numbers are added, choose "Finish register"
Next window will give the opportunity to register a spare CCU if applicable.
A last verification is done in the next window, if things need to be changed, the process goes back to step 4.
The license key with all information is shown on the next page. Note that the Print button doesn't work in all browsers, for this refer to "Printing the License Key document to PDF"
Upload the license key into your CCU or NCO. The Bosch ‘download and license tool’ is to be used to upload your license into a CCU2.
I have a custom DB9 cable that uses pins 2,3 & 5. Can I use this for serial communication from the PC to the (W)CCU?
No. You will need a full 9-pin null cable, since the (W)CCU communication on multiple pins.
Details on the RS232 connector can be found in theInstallation and User Instructions manual for version 3.1x found on the DCN-NG software ISO.
In order to change the layout, the StyleSheet needs to be changed. Default it is located in C:\ProgramData\Bosch\DICENTIS\VotingResult.xslt, this file can be opened in any text editor, Notepad++ is recommended as it is very versatile.
To back up your DICENTIS Server System is one of the most important maintenance task and it should be done on regular basis. Especially if you have to set up your Server for the first time it is highly recommended to do an backup to save your system, programs , settings and so on. The reason obviously for this is if a system crash occurred you should be prepared to set up or recover the Dicentis again. This will save you a lot of trouble if it is done properly beforehand.
There are four main themes to perform for a 100% save back up which will be now explained how to do it.
Network Docent scans and visualizes the network environment and is giving simple insight into all devices and cable connections of a network based system.
This Software can help you to identify network errors and find quick solutions to fix them. You even can extract an Network snapshot which is an important log file for the Technical Support.
In the next view step it will be explained how to create and extract these snapshots.
1) Open or install the Network Docent
Open Network Docent
Install Network Docent
2) Run the Network Docent
3) Export the Network snapshot
There could happen some occurrence were you should return your Dicentis wired license.
Reasons can be for example a hardware error, Windows software problems or an Windows upgrade of the Dicentis server etc…
DCN-NG is set-up in a multi-PC environment, all required licenses are installed. When trying to connect to the server from the secondary PC, the Operator Application takes a long time to start and once it does, the screen is simply blank and the server icon mouse-over shows the application is disconnected. When pinging the server from the secondary PC, the ping goes through without issues.
Trouble mixing and matching older & newer Dicentis cable assemblies, cables and connectors. The problem is usually that the cables and connectors do not fit together correctly or it's very hard to put them together.
Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP) is needed if you want to set up redundant cabling via loops.
By default it is disabled and even if you update your DICENTIS Conference Software it will be again disabled and has to be activated afterwards. Also third party switches must comply with IEEE802:1D-20- 04 and support RSTP.
Please also note that loops have a limited hops which are lower than 21 (devices). If you need more information regarding this please have a look in the installation manual.
Symptoms: When a meeting is recorded and the recording software (either Meeting Recorder or Open Interface connection) is shut down, the microphone control mode switches to "Open", independent of what it was before.
After upgrading to DICENTIS Conference system 3.60, TLS1.0 is disabled for security reasons, and TLS1.2 is enabled. Since the Multimedia device does not support TLS1.2, it does not show logo and participant images anymore.
Can a CCU be used in the same DCN-NG system as a CCU2 or CCUB2?
No, this is not possible. Mixing CCUs and CCU2/CCUB2s in a DCN-NG system is not supported.
It’s also not possible to use a CCU as a spare unit in case of failure of a CCU2/CCUB2 in a DCN-NG system.
The DetectDevices script was developed to give a fast feedback on connection problems or any other failure within the DICENTIS wired system. It will simulate a device and give out an advanced log file which can be used to track sporadic or normal connection problems. The technical support will provide this tool to get a deeper look into some issues if needed.
The DICENTIS cannot handle more than one enabled NIC at the same time and this could lead that it choose the wrong NIC and interrupts the system.
This will be specially important if you use your own Serve r . To solve this problem it is necessary to precisely define the DICENTIS NIC.
These next few steps will show you how to do that.
If you are facing unknown problems with your DICENTIS wired system and you need advice from the technical support they will ask for a lot of different information.
For that reason this little program was created to make the extraction of all needed log files, system settings and other data more easily.
