    For some reasons it could be necessary that the the Technical Support needs this logging to analyze what could cause the trouble. This guide will help you to get through . This topic can as well be found in the Configuration Manual of Dicentis wireless page 34. DICENTIS_Configuration_Manual   Preconditions:   You need at least a user with access right: Configure Logging export is not available for tablets. The log file can only store about 1200 lines! That means you need to extract the logging after the error or symptoms occurred before the system overrides the logging line.  It may be to late if you extract the logging after some days.

    The DICENTIS cannot handle more than one enabled NIC at the same time and this could lead that it choose the wrong NIC and interrupts the system. This will be specially important if you use your own Server. To solve this problem it is necessary to precisely define the DICENTIS NIC. These next few steps will show you how to do that.

    To send or receive a multicast Dante stream for example from different languages it will require some DCNM-LDANTE licenses but if you only need it for import and export audio signals the DCNM-LSYS includes already one channel (floor).

    Possible causes and solution(s) Causes   The Dicentis does not need any additional encryption to be set via the OMNEO Firmware Upload Tool. (OFUT) If you have set this by accident it could lead to that you can not see or update your units with the OFUT any more.   Solution:   stop the Firmware Upload Tool delete the following file  C:\Program Files\Bosch\OMNEO\Firmware Upload Tool\FirmwareUploadHIConfig.ini start the Firmware Upload Tool   Encrypted devices did not show up and you can not update them anymore. Do not set a password for default!   Open and delete this file  C:\Program Files\Bosch\OMNEO\Firmware Upload Tool\FirmwareUploadHIConfig.ini   Open the OFUT and units will appear again.

    To back up your DICENTIS Server System is one of the most important maintenance task and it should be done on regular basis. Especially if you have to set up your Server for the first time it is highly recommended to do an backup to save your system, programs , settings and so on. The reason obviously for this is if a system crash occurred you should be prepared to set up or recover the Dicentis again. This will save you a lot of trouble if it is done properly beforehand. There are four main themes to perform for a 100% save back up which will be now explained how to do it.

    In some cases the log file from the Dicentis Server become too big and it has to be cleared to reduce the size from time to time. The normal size is between 10MB and 50MB depending on the operation time but it should normally not grow over 100MB. If it does exceed, is most likely a fatal error within the DICENTIS system which produce a lot of logging each minute. It could be possible that the driver of the Network Card (3rd party Server) to become intermittent and the log file to grow to 300MB. In the next steps we will show you how to clear the logging.

    In some cases, especially if you use a 3rd party PC as DICENTIS Server, it could be necessary to update your network driver. For example, if discussion units show a red LED from time to time or your DICENTIS is dropping out it could be related to the network driver. Be aware that a normal Windows Update will not refresh this driver and you have to update it manually!

    There could happen some occurrence were you should return your Dicentis wired license. Reasons can be for example a hardware error, Windows software problems or an Windows upgrade of the Dicentis server etc…

    If accidentally a wrong country code is chosen during setup, there is no other way to change it in except for re-doing the setup, which in effect erases all prior  changes made to the configuration. This article describes a way to set the country code without having to re-run the setup completely.

    Click the Licensing button to open the Licensing page. Licensing is only required when you purchase software licenses. The Licensing page provides you with an overview of the activated licenses. Activate a license: To activate software you need to have an activation ID which was send by email after purchasing the software license. Activation requires a USB memory stick and any PC connected to the internet. Note 1: License activation is not supported for tablets. Note 2: While the same licenses are used by Dicentis Wired, the process to activate them on the Dicentis Wireless system are different, so please follow the below steps to activate the licenses on Dicentis Wireless. Insert the USB memory stick into the PC connected to the Wireless Access Point (DCNM‑WAP). Click the Add license button. Enter all required Customer information and Activation ID, click the Add license button and then the Activate button. Note: You can add more than one Activation ID. When all activation IDs are added, click the Activate button. A “save as“ dialog is shown. Save the “request file“ to your USB memory stick.  Go to the website https://licensing.boschsecurity.com using a PC/Laptop which is connected to the internet, and login. If you do not have a username, contact your local Bosch representative to acquire an account. Go to “manage license” and upload the “request file” from the USB memory stick. Save the “response file“ to your USB memory stick. In the DICENTIS web browser interface application, click the  Process response message button. Select the correct response file from the USB memory stick, and then click “Open”. Now the license is activated. New functionality is added and can be used by the system.

    DCN-NG Database Backup Note the name of the database files that need to be backed up. To check what those files are called, open the “Bosch DCN Conference Software Server Console” from the Windows notification area and note the name of the active database. Shut down all DCN-NG-related programs like ‘DCN-SW Operator Application’ and ‘DCN-SW Configuration Application’. Stop the DCN-NG service; Press the Windows button and search for ‘Services’ Open the Windows Services window Select the service called ‘DCN-SW Server (DCNNG) Right click and choose ‘Stop’. Still in the Services window, stop the services ‘SQL Server (SQLEXPRESS)’ and ‘SQL Server VSS Writer’ in the same way as outlined above. Open the folder that contains the DCN-NG database. On Windows 7 and 10, it’s located by default at “C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\[MS SQL Express version]\MSSQL\data”. Replace the line between [] with the right name, this can change. Right now it’s ‘MSSQL10_50.SQLEXPRESS’ Make sure that the user that is logged in is able to read/write from/to this folder. If this is not the case, the following step will not work. It’s possible to change permissions to folders for users within Windows, but that’s outside the scope of this document. Logging in to the server with an administrator account should be sufficient. Copy the right files to a safe location – make sure to copy both the file with extension ‘mdf’ as well as with the extension ‘ldf’.   DCN-NG Database Recovery Short version: simply follow the backup steps, but copy the files back to the database folder. Shut down all DCN-NG-related programs like ‘DCN-SW Operator Application’ and ‘DCN-SW Configuration Application’. Stop the DCN-NG service; Press the Windows button and search for ‘Services’ Open the Windows Services window Select the service called ‘DCN-SW Server (DCNNG)’ Right-click and choose ‘Stop’.
