In this article we cover the following basic questions:
How to Factory Default a NetApp E-Series unit by using BOSCH tools and NetApp WEB GUI?
How to download the NetApp Support Bundle of a reachable online NetApp Storage Array
Network switch has port security on and shuts down a NetApp iSCSI data port (e.g. CH3).
This article is only relevant in aspects of network security / port security where MAC addresses are analysed.
Some network security applications are capable of sniffing network packets thoroughly enough to pick up MAC addresses on E-Series Controller ports that are not seen in the Storage Array Profile data.
With the DSA E2800 Bosch introduced Multipathing. It is a fault-tolerance technique that defines more than one physical path between the camera and its iSCSI storage devices through redundant network connections.
When using this feature, recording of video data and replaying video data is possible even in case of an iSCSI controller failure. To ensure also that outages of infrastructure equipment (e.g. Switch) could be covered, we recommend following Interconnection.
This article describes the easiest method for adding Expansion shelves to a Base unit DSA E-Series E2600, E2700 or E2800.
This article also applies when:
The amount of storage is overloaded and you need additional storage after fully populating the base shelf.
1. Configuration Manager
2. Configuration Client which is included with BVMS
3. Santricity Software
A) If you would like to search for the BVMS version that can be used according to the firmware version of your DSA E2800, please check the following link:
Fix random reboot of NETAPP DSA E2800 (dual controller) by updating its Firmware
If the Host Type was set to other value than “Factory Default” for DSA E2800 and you want to integrate it with BVMS, the targets will most likely not be scannable and there will be no recordings at all.
This information may be requested by Central Technical Support Team, as the bundle file is useful for troubleshooting the improper behavior of the unit.
The method for collecting the NetApp DSA E2800 support bundle file from SANtricity Storage Manager App is provided below.
Please make sure that you have the SANtricity Storage Manager App installed on your unit.
1. Open the SANtricity Storage Manager App
2. Right click on your DSA E2800 > select " Execute Script... " option
3. Add the following line in the Script Editor: save storageArray supportData file="c:\supdat.7z" force=true;
4. Go to Tools and select " Verify Syntax"
5. "Syntax check complete" message should be displayed
6. Next, go to Tools and select " Execute Only "
7. To perform this operation, you have to login with your DSA E2800 credentials > click OK > " Working " message will be displayed
Note: it may take a while for the next window to appear
8. Select "Add Security Exception" and next "Confirm Security Exception"
9. You will be prompted to enter the credentials again. Fill in the necessary details and click OK
10. The Script will start the execution and the bundle file will be exported.
11. The file will be downloaded in "C:\"

FW 11.50.2 must be used for Single Controllers and 11.60.2 for Dual Controllers
In Q1 of the year 2020 the BU BT-VS announced that NetApp forces to update all systems E2800 to newer firmware than 11.40.x.
At that time, it was strongly recommended to go to version 11.50.2 and in February 2020 recommendation was given for 11.50.R2
The version 11.50.R2 was forced by NetApp to
get proper NetApp support services while valid warranty contract is active
and to fix vulnerability aspects.
Newer NetApp controller firmware might be approved and qualified by BOSCH.
(e.g. status 08/2020 there is an 11.60.2 qualified by BOSCH) - Details can always be found at the BOSCH product catalogue and Release Note
All customers owning a NetApp storage system with valid warranty agreement and registered unit do have access to the public announcement of NetApp.
This was announced by NetApp on their support websites (see https://mysupport.netapp.com/).
Please follow our BOSCH Knowledge Base and monitor for updates at this article for important news. The BOSCH sub model ID 356 ensures that the NetApp system is optimized for 24/7 video recording.
NetApp SANtricity Dynamic Disk Pools (DDP) technology represents a significant advancement in storage system, data protection and data management. As disk capacities continue to grow without sufficient increases in data transfer rates, traditional RAID rebuild times are getting longer, even up to several days. This slow rebuild results in much more time with degraded performance and exposure to additional disk failures.
To ensure the highest customer satisfaction and replace the defective hardware faster and more smoothly, it is necessary to register each system for the specific country together with the system location.
But where and why should you register your device?
